It is literally freezing in Chicago today. These below zero temps and dry air are usually awful for my skin. As someone who struggled with dry skin for years, I finally discovered a skincare regime that actually works for me. It’s no fuss, and the products are pretty affordable. So today, I am going to be sharing by Skincare Routine for Day and Night targeted to those with dry skin (like me!).
These, yes five products, are the only things I use. I probably should be using an eye cream, a separate moisturizer for day and night, a toner, a serum, something with spf, and blah blah blah. But really all of those add up in cost and for the first time, a routine has worked for me. I want to eventually add those extras into my routine but right now, I am pretty happy!
Well, when I wake up, I pretty much splash water on my face and then use my Kiehls Panthenol Protein Moisturizing Cream. I don’t use a cleanser in the morning because I don’t want to strip my skin of any more oils, and since I do a really good job of cleaning it in the evening, I don’t feel its necessary all the time.
Since I shower in the evening, my skincare routine usually begins there. I will start by removing my make up off with the Target Up and Up Make-Up Remover Cleansing Towelettes. These are cheap, and for some reason my skin likes them better than the Neutrogena wipes and Say Yes to Cucumbers wipes. I wear waterproof eyeliner and mascara so I need a separate makeup remover for that. I use the Sonia Kashuk Eye Makeup Remover using a cotton pad. Removing make up to me is the MOST IMPORTANT part of my routine. If I don’t do this, my skin will break out. Then I use this gentle and effective cleanser from Trader Joe’s Nourish All-in-One Facial Cleanser. It’s so inexpensive, and lasts forever. I only use about a 1/2 a pump to a pump. Two to Three nights a week, I will cleanse my face using my Clarisonic Mia while in the shower. Then I finish off my night routine with my moisturizer.
